Bottom line:
- When the backend says the quota is insufficient, it is blocking the protection cap on this Trade Assurance order. Membership buys showcases. Verified buys an audit. Neither fills the quota box.
- The number that day lives in My Alibaba quota management. There is no site-wide official US-dollar figure. Do not quote a forwarded screenshot as “official quota.” The number moves with transactions and reviews.
- A short quota is not OA, and a mould deposit will not bypass it. A private “quota deposit” stops first. Membership still goes to ALIBABA.COM HONG KONG LIMITED.
The buyer clicks place order. The amount is larger than usual. The backend returns: quota insufficient, the order cannot open. Sales says “then we upgrade to Verified.” Finance says “we just paid the year.” The shop floor has already bought material against this order.
How a first bulk order runs is on first Trade Assurance. Goods first, money later, is on OA. A mould deposit before the order exists is on deposits. A letter of credit is another paper, on soft clauses. This page only splits the quota box: what it covers, where to read it, and how it stays apart from the membership year.
1. Do not fold three payments into “we already bought protection”
| What they say | What it is | Issued with a Hong Kong store? |
|---|---|---|
| Gold / Verified membership | The file and showcases; Verified adds a factory audit | A contract gives showcases. It does not give quota |
| Trade Assurance quota / limit | The platform’s protection cap on Trade Assurance orders, read in quota management | The box exists with the store; the number follows the review that day |
| OA / Net 30 | Goods leave first; money arrives later | Not quota. See OA |
| Mould deposit, letter of credit | A transfer outside the order, or a bank’s conditional payment | They do not clear “quota insufficient” |
Quota short means this Trade Assurance amount hit the protection cap the platform gave this store. It is not the buyer’s credit, and it is not unpaid membership. Writing “upgrade to Verified and it will open” into a quote produces the next email asking for the difference and a remittance slip.
2. Believe the backend, not a forwarded post
On the seller side, quota is read in My Alibaba under Trade Assurance / quota management (the label follows the backend that day). What you usually see is available, occupied and under review. When the buyer places the order, the system tries to take this amount. If it cannot, the order stops at opening.
Numbers outside the backend are rumour until proven: a “starter quota for new stores” in a group chat, a round US-dollar figure on an intermediary poster, last year’s screenshot from another shop. The platform does not publish a site-wide official US-dollar price. Writing “official quota USD 100,000” that does not match the page that day is a false claim.
Quota moves. Completed orders, disputes, store files and buyer type can make the next order different from the last. Do not lock one day’s screenshot onto the showcase as a permanent promise.
3. A raise goes through review, not a membership top-up, not a private account
To raise quota, file through the backend entry that day. What they ask for, how long they take, and how much they add, follow that review. An advisor can sit with you on the fields. Filling it for you, taking the master account, or promising “it will be up today” stops first.
These do not raise it:
- Paying the Gold-to-Verified membership difference. Verified is the audit and the showcases. That is the upgrade page.
- Topping up P4P. Clicks are traffic. That is the P4P page.
- Taking a mould deposit and hoping it stands in for quota. The deposit is not yet inside a Trade Assurance order.
- Switching to OA or an LC and saying “quota is short, so we ship first.” The payment path changed; the quota box was not repaired.
- Wiring a “quota deposit” to a private account, WeChat or an unknown company name.
The Hong Kong corporate account, the Trade Assurance payout account and the membership payee are still three payments. Membership only goes to ALIBABA.COM HONG KONG LIMITED. Order funds go to the store-bound account. Corpable collects neither.
4. How the inquiry can be answered
| They write | A usable reply | Do not write |
|---|---|---|
| Place the order under Trade Assurance now. | Please place the order at the quoted amount. If the system says quota is insufficient, we will follow quota management that day and confirm a workable amount or a split before we start production. | Membership is paid, so quota is enough. |
| Upgrade to Verified and the quota will jump. | Verified is the audit and the showcases. Quota follows a store review. Paying the membership difference does not add a slice by itself. | Verified will open this bulk order. |
| If quota is short, ship OA / we pay later. | A short quota and open account are two things. OA is a separate conversation. It does not open from the quota page. | If quota is short we will ship first. |
| Wire a deposit to raise your limit. | A deposit is payment for goods or tooling, into our Hong Kong corporate account. It does not raise platform quota. A raise goes through the backend only. | Wire a first amount to a salesperson’s card “so we can raise quota.” |
Do not write “ample Trade Assurance quota” or “no limit on bulk orders” on a showcase. You can say Trade Assurance orders are accepted, whether one opens follows quota management that day, and over-limit amounts are split or reduced before production starts.
5. The order is already stuck on insufficient quota
- Do not start production against this amount that day. Do not book space.
- Open quota management. Read available, occupied and the gap on this order. Do not guess from chat.
- Reply with a workable amount, a split, or a wait for review. Leave one line on the site.
- Do not treat Verified, P4P, an LC or a mould deposit as a quota action.
- Anyone who wants the master account or an “official quota fee”: stop. Membership only goes to Alibaba Hong Kong.
The membership still buys the file and the showcases. Wire it to ALIBABA.COM HONG KONG LIMITED. Corpable does not file a quota request, promise this order will open, or collect a quota fee. How much the platform grants, and when it applies, follows the backend that day. Do not write a figure into the contract as an official price.
Questions teams actually ask
Does opening Gold Supplier already give us a Trade Assurance quota?
The membership buys the file and the showcases. Quota is another box, visible that day in My Alibaba quota management. Paying the year does not mean this bulk order will open.
If quota is short, does upgrading to Verified add some?
Verified is the factory audit and more showcases. Quota follows the store’s transactions, the buyer and the platform’s rules that day. It is not an automatic lift when you pay the membership difference. Do not quote a forwarded post.
Is quota the same as giving the buyer terms?
No. Quota is the platform’s protection cap on Trade Assurance orders. OA / Net 30 is another page. A short quota is not an agreement to ship on credit.
An intermediary says a cash deposit will raise the quota. Can we trust that?
Stop. Quota changes go through the store backend and a platform review. A private account, WeChat or an “official quota channel” is not this box. Membership still wires to ALIBABA.COM HONG KONG LIMITED.
May the showcase say “ample Trade Assurance quota / no limit”?
Not unless the backend that day matches. Quota moves. “No limit” will be screenshotted back as a bulk order you cannot open.
Can Corpable apply for a higher quota, or guarantee this order will open?
No. An advisor can sit with you on the quota page and which payment path this order should take. We do not file the quota request, promise a review, or collect any “quota fee.”
