The buyer wants ISO 9001: a CE file and Verified will not fill a quality-management system

Bottom line:

When a buyer asks for ISO 9001, ISO 9001 is a quality-management system for the organisation. It is not a product pass paper, and it is not CE.
Verified, BSCI and a pre-shipment inspection each stay in their own box. Opening the store does not issue a system certificate.
Certification follows the body quote. There is no official site-wide price.

The inquiry says: “Need ISO 9001 certificate.” Sales staples a CE, a Verified badge and last year’s system PDF from the plant next door. The buyer replies that the scope will not match this site. The shop floor asks whether to buy another ISO or retitle the Verified report.

1. The certificate they want covers the system, not this unit

A certification body audits the quality-management system against ISO 9001. The certificate names the organisation, the scope and the sites. Surveillance and recertification follow the contract. It does not replace this unit’s CE declaration, a test or an importer certificate.

Ask first which site they want, and whether the scope includes the process on this order. A trading-company certificate covers the office. A factory certificate covers the workshop. Do not swap them.

2. The scope sits on that site, not on “our company passed”

Another line in the same group, a lapsed surveillance, or a scope that says “trading” and not “manufacture” will not cover the workshop this buyer named. Contract plating or moulding that is not in the scope is not “the whole process certified.”

The certificate can be checked with the body or on an accreditation search. A file that lives only in an intermediary’s inbox, with a number that will not look up, does not exist.

Certification, surveillance and travel follow the body quote. There is no site-wide official price. Do not lock an “official ISO fee” into the unit price.

3. CE, Verified and BSCI will not fill this box

CE answers whether this unit completed conformity assessment under the applicable directives. That is the CE page. ISO 9001 will not stand in for the declaration.

Verified answers whether the platform gives the badge. An auditor having visited is not an ISO 9001 certificate. BSCI looks at labour and health and safety. That is that page. PSI looks at this container.

4. How the inquiry can be answered

Do not write “ISO passed” or “ISO certified” on a showcase. You can say the seller is a Hong Kong company, that the system certificate is provided by site and scope, and that product files stay separate.

5. If you already replied “we have ISO”

Tell sales the same day: prices that say “certified / ISO” stop.
Open this order: which site, whether the scope covers this process, and whether the certificate is still in surveillance.
Keep CE, Verified, BSCI and PSI as their own files. Do not merge and retitle.
Match the site and the scope. Do not hand the master account to an intermediary to “make a certificate.”
If the goods are already moving: send the certificate that can be checked. Do not invent a number.

Questions teams actually ask

Is ISO 9001 a product certificate?

No. ISO 9001 is a quality-management-system standard for an organisation. The certification body issues it for the scope and sites named on the certificate. It does not prove this unit meets a country’s product law, and it will not stand in for a CE declaration.

If we are Verified / have BSCI, do we already have ISO 9001?

No. Verified is the platform’s third-party production-line check. BSCI is a social audit. ISO 9001 is a quality-management system. Three numbers, three logins.

Can a trading company’s certificate cover the factory’s goods?

The certificate covers the sites it names. A Hong Kong trading company’s system certificate will not cover a Dongguan workshop. If they want the factory certificate, send that one. Do not retitle.

Does opening Alibaba.com on a Hong Kong company already give us ISO?

No. The membership buys showcases. It does not run a management-system certification. A Verified visit is not an ISO 9001 certificate.

May the showcase say “ISO passed / ISO certified”?

Not without a matching live certificate and scope. Bodies quote by site and scope. There is no site-wide official price. Writing “certified” will be screenshotted back when they book a surveillance visit.
